Music Recital and Sunday Dinner with the Olsen/Seelys

Sunday, May 27th, the Olsens hosted a music recital for four families in our branch.  Emma, James and Eliza played the piano and Eliza did a violin duet with her teacher.  It was a fun evening with music, talent, cousins, friends and food!

Our 15th wedding anniversary was May 23rd.  It was a busy Wednesday with lots going on and we only saw each other for about five minutes the entire day.  We celebrated on Friday night by going out to dinner at the same place we went last year, Origin on Taikang road.  Emma, Eliza and Tessa stayed home, ordered pizza and watched a movie.  James was on a scout camp out with Tate.

John was released as the 2nd counselor in the bishopric Sunday, May 20th.   Becky wrote this in her last family letter:  “In our branch presidency, the first counselor was released about a month ago. Our branch president was injured and has been in the hospital for the past week or so. John has been running the show and doing a fine job of it. President Wilde's wife told me that there was one evening last week in the hospital when President Wilde was in such pain that he could not settle down and it was frightening to her kids and she was coming apart at the seams. John arrived at the hospital and began to sing to President Wilde and he visibly started to relax and to handle the pain better. My friend said that she could not have made it through that experience without John's calming influence. John shared a powerful and humble testimony on Sunday, May 20th, as he was released and a new branch presidency was called. I was so grateful to be able to witness his goodness and his fine leadership and the love that these members have for him and for Laurel and their kids. I can't even say how much I enjoy being a bystander as I witness the miracle and the power of one good family.”

On April 15th, we had the Olsen/Seelys over for another Sunday birthday lunch celebration (This time celebrating Seth, Becky and Tate)

The cousins put on a show for us in the back yard -- love the costumes!
