3 and 1/2 more days of school! We are counting down. The kids had a great school year. Bringing home report cards with all A’s — good thing they get their school smarts from John. Emma received two honors at the HS academic awards ceremony (AP Psychology and Theater). Emma became the President of I.T.S. (International Thespians Society) and James became a member. On Monday Eliza will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
Emma’s internship with Coco-Cola
At our school the Juniors apply for 2 week internships that they do at the end of the school year. The students get their resumes ready and have several interviews that are lined up by the school. Emma got an internship with Coca-Cola in the HR department. It was a 9-5 desk job, which she now says she isn’t interested in ever doing again. She had to edit and work on excel spreadsheets most of the time and gave several presentations to her supervisor and his coworkers. The one perk—she brought home fun drinks every night (Vit C, orange, grape, sprite…).
This is a picture of several students in our seminary class. This was a great group of youth for James’ first year. Seminary graduation last Sunday was sweet. We had 6 seniors. It is always sad to say goodbye to them. Plus we have three other youth repatriating. One of the hardest parts of ex-pat life is all the great families that leave before you do!
James went to the 9-10th grade Spring Fling dance. We laughed as he spent over an hour picking out what he should wear. He tried on several outfit combinations for us until he found the perfect one. He came home disappointed and said that school dances are so lame compared to church dances.
The middle school holds two weeks of “explorations” at the end of the school year. John thinks they are a waste of time and they should just finish school earlier, but Eliza likes them. One of her explorations was a field trip with a professional photographer. Eliza learned how to use the aperture on our camera. She took some great photos and found a new hobby! Another one of her explorations was a three day mini musical. They learned the 7 songs to “100% Chance of Rain.” It is the story of Noah. I came in each day to help with the choreography. Eliza really enjoyed it. She was placed front and center and the choir director gave her a solo.

Last Friday Tessa’s class celebrated all the summer birthdays. Her class has 16 students and 6 of them have summer birthdays. It was a fun little party. This is a picture of Tessa and her friend Dagny.
