I heard spring is the best time to visit Washington, DC. Last year at Easter we decided we would spend our next Spring/Easter break there. My brother Grant and Anna live in Silver Spring (just outside of DC) and they were perfect hosts last weekend. Grant works for Discovery and Anna is pregnant, expecting their second boy next month. We arrived at their apartment for dinner early Friday evening. After dinner Anna kept Jefferson, Eliza and Tessa home while Grant took the rest of us on a tour. They live a block from a metro station which took us downtown. The weather was just right to see all the national monuments on the Mall. We started at Arlington cemetery and walked our way all around, ending at Jefferson's memorial. Grant kept looking at his watch saying, "The forecast says rain at 7pm." Luckily the rain held off until we were back at their apartment around 10pm. It was nice to walk around the tidal basin and see all the cherry blossoms right as the sun was going down. The memorials are beautiful all lit up at night.
Anna said that she tried to put Jefferson and Tessa to sleep in the same room (they are just a month apart in age). Jefferson would yell, "Tessa, you ARE my cousin." and Tessa would yell back, "No I'm NOT!" She finally got them to sleep.
