Happy 35th birthday, John!

John's birthday was yesterday. He is so easy to please and was happy spending the day helping with a ward Eagle Scout project and working in the yard. He even made lunch while I was taking Emma to a tap workshop.

He had already bought his presents earlier in the month. One was the Xbox 360, not because we needed another gaming system, but because we put our TV in the built in shelves in our family room. Now there is only enough room for a vertical DVD player and the Xbox 360 is the only one he could find. He refuses to buy any games to go with it so James has been happily checking some out from the library. John's second present was the power handsaw he needed last Saturday when he and James spent the day building us basement shelves. The shelves turned out great and proved to be a perfect project for James to help with.

We met Paul and Jenny at the temple at 6. Jenny planned on having a picnic with us and their friends the Workmans after the session. They brought delicious food and we ate on china right there on the picnic table behind the temple. I brought a birthday cake. It turned out to be such a fun night. The rain held off until we stood up to leave, which made the night feel even more perfect.

You can't see it well, but the temple is in the background of this picture

Today after church we ate his birthday dinner (roast, potato casserole, asparagus, bread, peach cobbler). Eliza's comment, "Mom, please don't make this for my b-day."
