Eliza and her friends (Trinity Remely, Joslyn Arbuckle and Julia Haddad) performed at the 6-7th grade Concordia Idol. They sang “To the Sky” by Owl City. They sounded great and looked so confident. Most of Eliza’s friends are moving from Shanghai this summer. She is nervous about it because she has had some of these friends for four years now.
James decided to play baseball again this spring, after his first season last fall. He has come a long way in a few months, but since he is still new to the game he was placed on the 5th-6th grade team. His coach, Shannon Nichols, thinks James is the most responsible and kind boy she has ever met. James knows he is not great at baseball but he doesn’t want to give up. It is sweet to watch his determination, but also painful since it is hard for an 8th grader to pick up a new sport.
Our neighbors, the Caltons, have been working on creating a SLC temple lego set. They gave us a free set in hopes that we would write up a positive recommendation on their website, which we did: "James, 13 years old and from Canton, Michigan, says putting together this temple set was a fun challenge. He did it every night for a week. It became a fun sibling bonding time as his three sisters would help him as well. The instructions were clear and it looks so realistic when finished! He does not want to take it apart. He looks forward to the next set being released!"
I got my braces off the first week of May. I only had six brackets on my bottom teeth for four months. I’m super excited that my bottom teeth are now straight.
On May 10th, this same neighbor (Suzanne Calton) put on a breast cancer awareness Fun Run called "More Than Aware.” She asked if I would get a team together. I emailed all my Zumba friends and we called our group “Team Zumba Love.” It turned out to be a very busy Saturday for our family so only Eliza could go with me. She was a great help passing out the skirts and leis for our team. Our team won the “Liveliest” award!
The school choirs have 2-3 concerts a year. The kids' end of year concerts this year were amazing. Tessa danced front and center in hers. Eliza’s choir did Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat so we heard her singing the color order for weeks. James had a solo in his. Emma’s choir performed a medley from the musical Once and also blew us away with Bohemian Rhapsody.
