"On Monday we toured a water town called JuJiaJiao. It was an old traditional village that had canals for streets, similar to the ones in Venice, Italy. The bridges and canal walls and walkways looked like they were constructed thousands of years ago and could still last another 1,000 years. So much of what we saw was made of cut and laid stones and was timeless. We did more shopping and then took a ride in a covered boat steered by a man on the back who used a long pole. It looked so much like the ones that I've seen in movies that I felt like we were in some kind of ride at Disneyland.
That afternoon after returning home we gathered up our belongings and left for the airport and Beijing. Just before leaving Shanghai we made a trip to the schools that the children attend. Although the schools were closed, we were able to go inside the large campus and look through the windows and see the setup and facilities. We then walked across the street to where Tessa attends preschool and enjoyed the chance to see a very wealthy neighborhood and Tessa's preschool situation. The guards at the entrance recognized Laurel and Tessa and had big smiles for all of us."
