"That night John took us to a fancy restaurant to experience Peking duck. He ordered an elaborate meal including the famous duck roasted to perfection and we enjoyed sampling other Chinese cuisine. After returning to the hotel we visited again about all we were seeing and peppered John with questions about what we had experienced. Thursday morning we packed up our suitcases and gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the airport. John again saw us safely to our destination and then we hugged him good-bye and made our way through security. His flight wasn't until later that evening but he was going to try to get on an earlier one if possible. We so appreciated all the sacrifices that he and Laurel made to make this trip so memorable for us. I know that they have "been there, done that" many times before and still they took the time and effort and money to insure that we had a great time."
Peking Duck
"Our flight was without incident and despite an hour delay in San Fransisco we were able to arrive in Boise early afternoon. As we arrived at the port of entry in San Fransisco both Tim and SaraKay commented on how good it felt to be on American soil. We were all tired and a little ding-y but Tim said that he could tell we were back in America because people were smiling and then he broke into "Oh, Beautiful For Spacious Skies" and we all started laughing. SaraKay topped that as we landed at the Boise airport and she sang, "And Here We Have Idaho". I agreed. I wanted to tap my heels together and say with Dorothy of Oz, "There's No Place Like Home!"
David and Andrea drove two cars to the airport so that we could head straight back home and not make our day even longer. I so appreciated their thoughtfulness since I was running on adrenalin after being awake for over 24 hours and just needed to push to get home where we could get back into things that needed to be done before SaraKay leaves for school Tuesday morning. We've both had jet-lag and are still trying to get our bodies to sleep at night and function during the day. Thanks for everyone's prayers in our behalf.
